We designed and facilitated a Future Search Conference for the community of Atlin. Through the cooperation of the Atlin Advisory Planning Committee, Atlin Board of Trade, Taku River Tlingit First Nation and the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office, a two day workshop helped the community define its shared values and vision for the future. Over fourty community groups participated and helped shape a report that was sent to the Environment Minister. This document would help brief decision makers responsible for a decision on a controversial road issue related to mining in the area. This design was chosen for its non-adversarial, efficient and democratic design.
Great process. I had heard a lot of 'negative stuff' around this and was worried in the beginning. - I will share this info on how positive it really is with the concerned people who were not in attendance today!Enjoyable and fun. Everyone had an equal say.
Useful process to focus on important elements/ areas - Good way to capture everyone's ideas and avoid confrontation. Brings people together to share in decisions.
Condensed from participant evaluations completed after the workshop.
